Sick House
Well, Grace has her first cold, which she seems to be getting over this morning, no runny nose yet! The bad news is that Holly woke up early this morning (2 or so) and has been sick in the bathroom all morning if you get my drift?! SO, I miss class today which is BAD because I only had one more day to miss and after this I don't have any. I don't want Grace at someone else's house and get their kids and family sick SO, pray that I don't get it too!!! Hopefully Holly just has a bug that will be over today, she has been asleep for an hour or so now. My main concern is that Grace doesn't get what Holly has! SO if I can stay well that will be way more likely. We also will miss Grace's friend Kendall's one year B-Day party. We were looking forward to going, but we sure don't want to spread the sickness around. We'll holler at yall later!!-Adam

Update
On a side note, it feels like it has been a while since I posted. Adam has been very busy with school. He is writing a paper just about every day now. Tonight, he has got to work on a presentation so I have to be quick on the computer. That is one of the reasons I haven't posted. Because of this, Adam has had to use the computer just about all of the time. Mom was also here over the weekend. She came on Thursday and left yesterday on Monday. We had a really good time with her. We stayed around here a lot (by choice). Saturday we did go to eat Mexican and took Grace. We went around to a few stores one day, looking for a few things for Grace. We also went to Target and Walmart while she was here. Sunday was church! Grace was loving all of her attention and love. I know it was hard for Mom (Grandma) to leave!
Grace went for her 6 month check up on Thursday morning. She looked great. She was a 16 1bs. 13 ounces. (I know she has gained even more since then. She is around 17 lbs now. She was 25 1/2 inches long. The doctor said she was in the 50th percentile for height and 60th% for weight (50% for head circumference). They wrote on our paper though that her height was in the 45th% and weight 65th%. I told Adam that I was afraid we were going to go in and they were going to say she was too big (LOL), and that we need to slow it down. But I was wrong, she said she was just fine!
Grace is doing much better on her sitting up. The only thing is that today she has started a little runny nose. It is clear and watery. I don't know if it is teething related. The doctor said she did see a little swelling in her gums but no tooth yet. She really wants something in her mouth all of the time. She doesn't have a fever but I think I will call the doctor just to make sure tomorrow.
I will have to get some video on here soon that we got that is funny of her. Here are some pictures from our "weekend" with Grandma.

Happy 6 months Grace!!
Grace is 6 months old TODAY! Man, how time has flown! Mom, asked me the other day if I could imagine my life without her now and I say "NO"! Mine (and Adam's) life completely revolve around her! She is on my mind constantly! Adam laughs at me because when I am away from her for work or whatever reason, I will call him and ask every little detail about what is going on- from "what time she ate", "if she is playing now", "what she is doing exactly", "what time she got up from her nap", "what time she went down for a nap or bedtime", "when he put her in the bath", "what he put on her when he went out", "if she's had her reflux medicine", etc. etc. It is not because I don't trust Adam with her because he is perfectly capable of taking care of her and does a WONDERFUL job! (I am sooo thankful for him!) I guess I just want to know these things to make me feel better about being away and it makes me feel like I am still caring for her while I am away. It also assures me that everything is OK!
Grace is:
I know there is more but I will leave you with a picture from today. She wore tights to church today for the first time!

Grace is:
- Still working on sitting up! She can stay up longer but still topples!!!
- Turns from her back to her stomach all of the time now but get on her stomach and acts "stuck". (She won't turn now from her stomach to back)!! She acts like she forgot how!! LOL
- Growing, growing, growing. As a matter of fact- she could slow down! Ha! Ha! Her height is not catching up with the rest of her!! LOL
- Likes to put cold teethers in her mouth but no sign of a tooth yet (I don't think)
- Puts everything in her mouth!
- Started doing a little move with her leg when she is sitting. It looks like she is doing a dance with her right leg! (Don't know what that is about!)
- Is OUT OF THE SWADDLE!!! This has been a little bit of a battle for a couple of months now. We have tried but gave in when it seemed she wouldn't sleep as well without it. She has been without it for over 2 days now and she STILL sleeps! Praise God! (This became evident that we had to do this when we found her in the crib the other morning rolled over on her stomach in the swaddle! She had managed to get her arms out, which she has been doing for a while! Plus, she was getting too big for the swaddle anyways!)
I know there is more but I will leave you with a picture from today. She wore tights to church today for the first time!

Prayer Request
Please pray for a friend of mine named Kristina. She is 32 weeks pregnant and her water broke yesterday. She is in the hospital in town and they are trying to see if she can wait a little longer before she delivers. They think the baby weighs 4 1/2 lbs now but she keeps losing fluid so it seems she will have this precious baby girl soon. She did get the steroid to help the lungs develop and they say the baby looks great right now. Grace and I are going up there this evening to see them while Adam is working. Please pray for the precious baby girl's safety and her adaptation to the world! Also, pray for Momma's safety and for Ben (Dad) and the entire family!
This is Kristina on the far right in this picture (in black). This was back on 4th of July this year.

Our God is Awesome
It never ceases to amaze me how AWESOME God is. Yesterday, I was just in totally awe of God's providence and sovereignty in our lives! I am reminded that God always knows exactly what we need at the right time!
For example, I went to the Thursday morning Bible Study yesterday at church, and this girl named Shawnda was giving away a comforter, pillow shams, and a decorative pillow that will fit a queen size bed. She said it was her Mom's and her Mom only used it one time and then decided she wanted something else. She said she was going to take it to Goodwill but decided to offer it to someone at the Bible Study. This bedding matched our colors in our room perfectly. Well, the comforter that was on our bed was a cheap one from Garden Ridge and it was tearing at the seams when you pulled it, even to make up the bed. Adam said he was just thinking yesterday morning about how it would be nice to be able to get more bedding because the comforter we had also wouldn't "breathe", but we both knew that we didn't have the money for anything like that, any non-necessity! So out of the blue, new bedding was provided to us!
Also, we got a sign on our door last week, I think, saying that the Gas Company found a gas leak coming from the pipes on our meter. They said we must get it fixed within 90 days or they will turn our gas off! Adam has also not been getting as many hours at work due to they keep hiring people and so they get done with their work early. Our census, has also been down at work a lot so it has been hard for me to pick up extra time on my floor too. Then, I got a phone call from my mother saying that she had deposited some money in our account in AL. (This is without asking!) What a blessing! I can't even begin to tell you how much we THANK GOD for Mom. This is not the half of it when it comes to Mom!
I really struggle with faith at times. Sometimes, I just think their is no way! I will pray but I REALLY don't believe it will happen. I guess I think it is too hard for God or something! What a lesson learned yesterday, that GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL!- Holly

Just Playing
Today Grace is having a very verbal day. She was playing in her exersaucer earlier and I got this video. She was pretty intense while she was playing! It is more blurry after I uploaded it to the computer. Don't know why but I did zoom in with the camera so she wouldn't stop playing!- Holly

Grace Rolling Over
In this video when it first started I had put Grace on her side and she rolled the rest of the way. The second time I helped her to her side again and then let go and she went the rest of the way, and then rolled from her stomach to her back completely by herself. I am telling you this because you can't see her legs some of the time to see what she did herself. I am up close so I could be in the floor with her! Just to make it clear!........
She is still working on getting good at this. What fun!!!!

5 1/2 months old
Grace is doing new things all of the time! Last week she rolled over for the first time. She first rolled over from her stomach to her back once. Two or three days later she rolled over a few times from her back to her stomach. She has done this at least a few more times. She isn't doing it all of the time and sometimes I even have to encourage her to roll because she will just lay on the blanket sometimes and not move, just talk. I encourage her by helping her on to her side or stomach at first and then let her do it. This is like a practice run! She also sits pretty well but can not sit by herself completely yet. She might balance herself for a few seconds and then topples over. We are working on that! She also likes to stand a lot when you are holding on to her. She really enjoys her exersaucer more now. She actually plays with the toys a lot that are on it and can even spin around some. I got some video of her playing in it one day and then she spit up right at the end and you see spit up running down. It is a very typical occasion for this to happen but I just didn't want to put a video on here with it ending with that! I thought about putting it on here because that is just the picture of real life with Grace, but I figured I will spare you! Adam also got a video on our camera of her rolling over but I think I accidentally erased it. But it is ok, I was wanting to get a better one anyway.
She is getting to where she doesn't like her swing so much any more. She will get in it and be OK but when she is in it she looks like she is constantly trying to sit up and acts restless sometimes because she wants to be doing more! Playing! She really is so much fun now. Of the vegetables she has now ate: carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, and sweet peas. Tomorrow is green beans! She seems to have liked all of them so far.
Her paci: She really only cares for it when she is tired. If she is sucking on it good, that is a sure sign that she is tired! She will use it to go to sleep now most of the time.
As for sounds: she makes a "Uhmm" noise all the time. (She is doing this in her exersaucer now!) She also will have days when she is very loud and squeals a lot.
Growing: She is right at or over 16 1bs now. She is still in 3-6 month old clothes but she is right on target. She will need those 6-9 month clothes real soon! I think her length is obviously taking after her Mom and Dad's height! We are not sure how long she is, we haven't measured her and the last time she was measured was at her 4 mo. check up. I can tell by looking at other babies she is already shorter! LOL. You know she was destined for this! (She's a cute little short thing though!)
This is all for now. I am putting some pictures on here of her in more bama clothes. We are gearing up for the AL and GA game this Saturday!

This is what Grace will do when you put her in the swing. She will put her feet down sometimes like she is going to stand in the swing.

Fire Proof
Just wanted to mention a new movie coming out that we will probably end up watching on DVD. Why? Hard to go to movies with a baby and movie tickets are outrageous! Now anyway, Fire Proof is a movie about a broken marriage, it is made from the same people who did Facing the Giants. Looks like a good family film which is a hard thing to come by these days. So even if your marriage is not that bad, you should see a good movie anyway! CYA! -Adam

Grace Shows Her Team Colors. Roll Tide!
We received a package in the mail today from Grace's Aunt-to-be Kelly. This is what she got.....

(I don't know why blogger turns it sideways at times but maybe you all can see how cute they are.) She made all of these Bama clothes for her. Now you can see how cute Grace is wearing some of these clothes....

They are precious Kelly! Thanks.

Grace's First Parade
Adam and I decided at the last minute to go to the Gaslight Festival Parade that occurs annually in our town of Jeffersontown on the southeast side of Louisville. This year we where both off and we decided to go when we realized the parade was last night. We also decided to call some friends of ours from church that live real close to us in Jeffersontown (Danny, Angie, and their girls). Angie ended up meeting us at our house and then we followed her because they go every year and they usually sit in front of Jeffersontown Baptist Church where they use to go to church. It started off pretty hot and the sun was beating down but it soon went behind the trees and we all found a great spot on a hill in the grass to sit where we could see the parade real well. Grace really enjoyed it, despite the fact that she had not had an afternoon nap and was very tired. She sat and watched the entire parade! She loves being outside anyways, and really enjoyed watching all the people in the parade and even the ones just around us watching the parade. I know she also enjoyed taking in all of the sounds and smells. Here are some pics from our fun-filled evening of memory making!
This is Danny & Angie & 2 of their girls. You can't see their youngest, she is in Danny's Dad's lap. His parents are sitting by them.

Grace Eats Vegetables
Grace had her first bites of baby food (besides rice cereal). She is doing vegetables now. She started with carrots. Now she is eating squash and oatmeal too. She really likes it already. I am putting video on here of her first taste of carrots. It may not be very impressive to you all but it is pretty exciting to us to go through all these new adventures with Grace daily! More adventures to come!
Grace and Kendall's Teams
Grace and Kendall show off their teams in their team clothes. We took this picture this morning after they stayed with us. Since you know AL is playing Arkansas this weekend. Grace and Kendall was funny watching each other. Kendall is on the run and she is walking everywhere! She is constantly moving! Grace would just watch Kendall play and walk around and just smile.
It was difficult getting a picture of both of them together and looking at the camera. This is the best we got.

Quick Update
We are all great. Many people are still without power in the area around us. For those that don't know we had a terrible wind storm that was a remnant from Ike that hit the Louisville area on Sunday afternoon. It blew down MANY trees. Alot of damage from trees landing on cars and houses, etc. Grocery stores, business, schools, and daycares, etc. have been closed this week due to no power. Adam is out of school all week. Some friends of ours from church (Evan, Leah, and Kendall) still don't have power and they are coming over now to stay the night and they are going to wash some clothes and we are going to cook some meat that they need to use since they have no freezer. We managed just fine. We mainly missed the refrigerator the most. It was just so hard to keep everything cold and it was about impossible to find ice at first. But we did find some Monday morning.
As for Grace. I have been trying to upload a video of her eating her first vegetable (carrots) from the other day. It keeps having problems loading and I was trying for the second time this evening and I believe it has failed again. I will have to work on that more tomorrow maybe. It is a little longer than some of our videos so that may be why (3 minutes). Grace also turned 5 months old last Friday. I will have to post more later on what she is doing. I'll post some pics for now.

Power IS on!!!!!!
We had been without power from Sunday morning to this morning besides a 2 hour window when we had power yesterday and then it went off, what a tease!!! There are still 300,000 in KY with no power and 800,000 in OH. Plus with all the damage in TX, we can consider ourselves blessed and spared. We do have perfect weather for this to happen, it has been in the mid 70's during the day and cooler at night. We did have some siding come off and some is loose, if I can get a ladder high enough I can fix it myself so I won't have to pay somebody. It is the last row next to the roof (second story) so it is HIGH! Anyway, we'll get some new stuff on here soon. I've been busy just trying to keep food and diapers and such in stock! Grace is great, she is now eating carrots and oatmeal cereal, many new food adventures to come!!!

Football Social
Adam and I decided to invite everyone over to our house from our Adult Bible Fellowship at church for a football social on Saturday night. It started with us going to invite Evan, Leah, and Kendall and we were going to get pay-per-view of College Gameday so that we could watch AL and the Arkansas game. (They are AR fans). We decided to go ahead and invite everyone at the last minute and about 4 couples plus children were able to come. I made spaghetti, and someone brought salad, dessert, drinks, garlic bread, and I bought just some chips and salsa to snack on before we ate. We had two T.V.'s set up in here so that both games could be watched because both of the games came on at 7pm our time. We had a really good time. Grace ended up sleeping most of the time. She was getting tired before they got here and then when some of them got here she entertained them for a while by laughing and smiling at them and then she ate and went down for a nap before we started eating and she slept the whole rest of the time. Everyone left by half time since it was late and with kids, and church in the morning. We had a really good time. I made a few pictures of us except I didn't get the camera out till after one of the couples left because I forgot and Grace was asleep at this time so the pictures I am posting are of her before everyone got here that day.
Oh, this first picture she is showing you how she likes to stand now and she can hold her weight standing for a while on your lap or hard surface.

As you can see, we had some Auburn friends over in the orange. (Yuck!) They are from Gulf Shores, AL.
