First bath in the first week. Of course, she didn't care for it at this point since we could not put her down in the water due to her cord still intact. Now she is loving the bath!
First trip out in public besides the doctor.. Went to the mall and walked around.. Momma was dying to get out!! 9 days old!! Big Sis' was proud of little sister! :)

By the end of the first month, Hope started liking her play mat!!

So the first 1 to week and a half the grandparents were here helping and visiting after Hope was born. When they were all gone. I quickly had to start trying to develop a routine. Hope starting having really fussy spells usually twice a day that would last for a few hours and was not allowing me to put her down for any time. So when Momma was home alone, it made for hard days in the beginning. Every time I would put her down the stinker would wake up and start crying and just was not being content when awake at all!!! We went to the doctor and at 3 weeks old, Hope started on Zantac for acid reflux to see if this would help. This has honestly made for a rough first month, but thankfully she has not been as bad as Grace, who was colicky. Hope can be consoled. Walking her, patting her, nursing, praise music, car rides, and walks.. we have found these all work for her. She has been sleeping in the pack in play in our room. There has been some nights too that we were desperate to get sleep and she slept in our bed too! :) Some nights it would be difficult to get her back to sleep after feedings, she would just be awake and want to be held and have attention. As the month progressed this got better.
As for Grace, she is adjusting well. In the very beginning she wanted to be a help but we had to teach her to be careful and easy with the baby. That was and still is a learning experience. As I have said, she also wants to give kisses all of the time. There are times when we have to tell Grace to let Hope be because we will have just got her off to sleep and so on. She is learning though and has learned to be quieter at those times, etc. She is a big help though. She helps by fetching stuff for us all of the time and she likes to try to calm Hope when she fusses. Gives her the pacifer or gets a rattle or toy and tries to entertain her and hold her hand and tell her "it's okay Hope". It IS sweet!! She has had to learn that Mom and Dad sometimes are occupied (and often were this first month), with Hope and can not do everything she wanted to do right away. We tried to make a point, to still spend time with her.. whoever is not tending to Hope. She really has been very understanding!!
We have had great support throughout the month too. We had people from church bringing us meals about every other day or so for a couple of weeks or so, after my Mom left so that was a HUGE blessing. With that came some great company too for visits when they brought the meals. The church really has been wonderful to us!
